3D Printed Mask May Be The Future Of Mobile Brain Scanning

Tech Insider
Brain scanners could have a new look. Researchers 3D printed this wearable prototype that can conduct brain scans while patients walk around. Conventional scanners are large, fixed, and one-size-fits-all. This mask can move the position of its 16 sensors to match anyone's head and this enhances the signal. It's currently being used for patients with epilepsy to identify areas of the brain with abnormal activity. Researchers hope to use it to study other brain disorders like schizophrenia. They say the mask works well with children who have trouble staying still in conventional scanners. The project is a collaboration between the University of Nottingham and University College London.
