Robotic Prosthetic Foot Gives Patients The Perfect Fit

Tech Insider ، Internet Of Things ، Robotics
This is a robotic prosthetic foot that was created by HumoTech. This is a spin-off from Carnegie Mellon's Biomechatronics Lab. They create advanced robotic prosthetics and exoskeletons and their focus is to match patients with a better-fitting prosthetic. A prosthetic that doesn't fit well could give patients discomfort, and this can be a common issue with current prosthetics. Here's how it works for a HumoTech patient. HuMoTech lets amputees test multiple feet in various conditions. Then, patients report how each foot affects their mobility. This gives HuMoTech immediate feedback to choose the best possible fit. The prosthetics are simple and lightweight and can hold up to 25 pounds. This small team is taking a big step in prosthetics.
